I have been giving driving lessons in Grantham since 1979 and have to date had 971 passes.
Training Car
Learning to drive in the TOYOTA YARIS is great. It is so learner friendly having light but accurate steering, essential for reverse parking etc. It also has a reversing camera to make sure you are correct when reversing. It has large windows that are electrically operated, also the mirrors are large and give a good rear view and are also electrically operated. Dual control brake and clutch are also fitted for your safety. The seating is multi adjustable for height, reach and rake, as is the steering wheel. There is a multitude of airbags ‘just in case’. For the environment the YARIS is ECO friendly, running a turbo diesel engine which emits only 104 gm per km and has exceptionally good fuel consumption. Also for your safety there is Traction control & anti lock braking. Teaching ECO driving is also catered for with the inclusion of gear change indicators that tell you the optimum point to change gear. You can also gauge your fuel consumption from each journey against the previous one so improving your ECO driving style.
With a modern car and modern teaching/coaching methods and a friendly approach you could find yourself on the passed pupils list on this website soon.

Learning to drive in Grantham can be frustrating owing to the traffic congestion but it can be a bonus as you will be improving your clutch control /stopping /starting etc. Watching for pedestrians and cyclists that are not concentrating on traffic. Modern driving is not just about passing the test THEN learning to drive , as I have heard many people say. It is about being able to control your vehicle with confidence, on your own without any input from anyone else and at the same time being able to anticipate not only what IS happening around you but what could happen around you and being able to cope with it calmly, decisively and correctly.
Learning to drive on different roads than test routes, for example driving to a different town, or to where you may be driving regularly when you have passed your test are all helpful in the learning curve. There is such a world of difference in the learning process now than when I became a qualified driving Instructor in the late 70s. It is a far more exciting era that we are now entering with the cost of fuel rising and the ECO driving techniques that we can apply. Also the tremendous leaps that have been made in car design. When I learned to drive a heater was about all you got on the options list . So let me help you to become a safe, responsible driver and at the end, if you pass the test first time without a mark on the sheet I will return the cost of a driving lesson as a thank you .
